Sustainability
At Marienlyst Seafront Hotel, we have had sustainability high on the agenda for many years and with the sustainability program BæreLyst, our green efforts have been given a name and a direction. Here, sustainability is not just about rules and measurements, but about community and the desire to make a difference together with colleagues, guests and partners and of course with our Green Key certification as one of our focal points.

Here, sustainability is not just about rules and measurements, but about community and the desire to make a difference - together with colleagues, guests and partners.
Care with care
When you're a guest with us, just sit back and enjoy your stay. Our sustainable work is all about taking care of you - and the planet - without compromising on comfort or quality. Many of the green solutions are behind the scenes and will hardly be something you notice. But they make a difference - and you can have a say in some of your choices too.
Green Key and ESS Group: Part of something bigger
Since 2017, we have been Green Key certified, which commits us to continuous improvement and measurable environmental management. As part of ESS Group, we work purposefully and passionately with the area - under a common sustainability policy (ESS-Haallbarhetsarbete-vs-1.1-ENG.pdf) and we participate in sustainable collaboration, for example on joint green procurement, knowledge sharing and cross-cutting efforts. This strengthens both our environmental efforts and the quality of the guest experience.
Green initiatives in practice
Marienlyst has a strong focus on reducing resource consumption and our building has, for example, energy label B, and almost all lighting has been switched to LED. We use eco-labeled cleaning products and have introduced systematic waste sorting - with a special focus on reducing food waste.
Sustainable gastronomy with care
We prioritize local, seasonal ingredients, reduce transportation and offer dishes with CO₂ consumption information. With respect for the ocean's resources, we work with NaturSkånsomt fishing and support the release of turbot in collaboration with Fiskerikajen. Green dishes are becoming increasingly popular on the menu - and we work hard to minimize food waste through collaboration between the kitchen and other departments in the house.
Diversity and inclusiveness
At Marienlyst, we believe in the power of community. We have colleagues with 28 nationalities, employees in flex jobs and collaborate with job centers and integration programs. With us, there is room for everyone - and good opportunities for everyone.
Training and development
We invest in training, internships and internal recruitment. Our onboarding program includes sustainability from day one and we create development opportunities through internal mobility and collaboration with other ESS Resorts.
Open to the world - local roots, global outlook
From Marienlyst we have a view of Øresund - but our view extends further. We engage in the local community, participate in events, use local suppliers and donate surplus food together with Rema1000 to shelters. Every month we also bake cakes for nursing homes.

What can you do?
At Marienlyst Seafront Hotel, we have made it easy - and meaningful - for you to contribute to the green journey without compromising your guest experience. Here are some easy ways you can get involved:
Green mobility - right at your doorstep
You can easily get here by train and bus - the station is just a few steps from the hotel. Coming by electric car? Then use one of our 23 charging stations - you just pay via an app, no membership required.
If you want to explore the area, you can borrow one of our bikes - it's free and the nature around us is fantastic!
Help us sort waste
We sort all our waste - and you can easily help. In your room and conference rooms, you can put bottles, paper and plastic next to the bin and our staff will take care of the rest.
Drink water directly from the tap
In Denmark, tap water is clean, tastes good - and is much more climate-friendly than bottled water. That's why we don't sell spring water in plastic bottles. Instead, we offer Thoreau water to all our guests - fresh and sustainable.
Use your towel an extra day
Want to help save water, energy and detergent? Hang up your towel and we'll recycle it. If you leave it on the floor, we will of course change it.
Skip cleaning - and save resources
If you stay several nights, you can choose to skip a cleaning. It saves water, energy and cleaning products - and you help us take care of the environment.
Discover the green and blue Elsinore
Around the hotel you'll find beautiful nature experiences, running routes, bike paths and coastal life. Dive into the local area - with maritime culture, cozy streets and the story of Hamlet just around the corner.
