Cross-border efforts

Marienlyst Strandhotel is part of the Swedish ESS Group – an association of passionate hotels and resorts that now also works purposefully with sustainability under a common policy and vision.
At Marienlyst Strandhotel, we are taking our green ambitions to new heights through community and collaboration with the ESS Group – both strategically and in our everyday work. Sustainability is not just a goal, but an ongoing process in which we constantly strive to improve.

As part of the ESS Group, we work purposefully and passionately in this area – under a common sustainability policythat sets the framework for both Marienlyst and the entire ESS Group's sustainability work.

Part of something bigger
At ESS Group, we are part of a larger cross-border sustainability initiative in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway, where we can inspire and learn from each other. We work closely together on green procurement, knowledge sharing, and cross-functional initiatives. This gives us the strength to act quickly, be present, and show great consideration for our employees, guests, and the environment. ESS Group calls this being big but acting small: innovative, imaginative, and always close to those we work with and for. Our values are summarized in "The Little Red Book," which guides us in everything from recruitment and employee well-being to service and decision-making. Through this community, we raise our green ambitions, both strategically and practically.

From strategy to action
Through the ESS network, we are committed to continuous improvement and documented environmental management. We develop solutions, share experiences, and create synergy across hotels. At Marienlyst, we have already achieved results such as energy label B, widespread use of LED lighting, systematic waste sorting, reduced food waste, and much more. The ESS collaboration has reinforced these efforts and added new elements, such as joint green procurement and initiatives that extend beyond the hotel's own framework.
